Hoboken art mural
Adorning the western wall of Hoboken’s Municipal Garage B on Hudson Street, 28 2nd Street, is the newest mural art named Technicolour.
The Hoboken Business Alliance and the Art Committee Advisory Committee have worked together to ensure success with this project, including by funding the mural with the support of the Hoboken Public Arts Program Bond which was established by executive order in 2018 and requires that 1% of all city bond ordinance revenues go to funding public art projects.*
Technicolor, designed and created by world-renowned visual artist Michelle Hoogveld alongside her team, was completed in the Fall of 2022. Michelle Hoogveld has created art murals and public art installations around the world and throughout the United States.
“Public art like what Michelle is bringing to Hoboken has shown time and time again to have a positive impact on the community that surrounds it,” Roxanne Earley, Executive Director of the Hoboken Business Alliance, told TAPinto Hoboken. “People love art, and they love coming to visit exceptional public art. Residents and visitors alike take more pride in an area that is beautiful, they feel more comfortable shopping and dining in places that are more attractive, and they engage even more in efforts to make their community better.”
“We talk a lot about place-making and as you can see what was kind of cold and gray is now a place,” shared James Runkle, Hoboken, President of the HBA. “A place that says welcome to Hoboken, a place that encourages residents and visitors to come to Hoboken, shop in Hoboken, dine in Hoboken and support our business community.
